On 5 November 2025, 35 S2 students attended the Life & Chemical Sciences Careers Event at The Pavilion, Ingliston, accompanied by Dr McMullon and Mr Robertson, with the event organised by the SDS Life & Chemical Sciences Skills Group, including Mr Stewart (Science).

The event brought together exhibitors from across the life sciences and chemical industries,  alongside universities. Students had the opportunity to engage directly with industry experts, ask questions, and learn about the cutting-edge work happening across Scotland and beyond.

A highlight of the day was the Panel Session, where students gained a deeper understanding of the wide variety of roles available in the sector and the many pathways - from apprenticeships to university routes - that can lead to exciting careers in science.

The visit offered an inspiring introduction to one of Scotland’s fastest-growing industries and encouraged students to think about the future possibilities open to them within STEM.
