Curriculum

By ‘curriculum’, we mean what is taught and learned at school. This includes subjects, assemblies, clubs, volunteering, outdoor learning and trips along with every other aspect of life in Beeslack.

Our Rationale

The rationale that underpins our curriculum can be summed up as follows:

• At Beeslack we want our students to develop the knowledge they need to understand the world around them

• At Beeslack we want our students to develop the skills they need to continue to learn and contribute to society

• At Beeslack we want our students to develop attributes which reflect our school values

• At Beeslack we want our students to leave with a range of qualifications and achievements which open the doors they need for their next stage in life and which reflect their very best effort

• At Beeslack we want to ignite a passion for learning for the sake of learning, viewing it as interesting, exciting and with a sense of pride

For the most part, the curriculum is delivered in subjects, which are timetabled across a 32 period week.  Each period is 50 minutes long.   

In S1-S3 the majority of lesson will be single periods, although there are some doubles – for example PE.  In S4-S6 lessons are combination of singles and doubles.
