Our New Phone Number
November 2025
As part of our ongoing partnership with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), we were delighted to welcome Nelly Erich Trapp, Investment Manager at JP Morgan, to speak with our N5 and Higher German classes.
Nelly shared insights into her own career journey, offering practical advice on interview skills, CV writing, and the many pathways that can lead into the financial sector. The session was especially valuable for our N5 pupils, who complete a CV and job application as part of their exam, and for our Higher students currently applying for part-time work.
Students took away several key messages, including:
Many companies in the Central Belt are “crying out” for German speakers.
The ability to speak any language other than English will give your CV “the edge”.
Very often you have to do really boring jobs as an in between step to reaching your dream career.
AI is not going to replace humans with language skills any time soon.
You do not have to be great at maths in order to work in the financial sector. Communication skills, curiosity, the ability to work in a team and problem solve are all highly sought after skills. All of these are byproducts of studying a language!
The visit was both motivating and informative, helping pupils recognise the real-world value of language learning and the opportunities it can open.
